Open Chords

A

A Major

If you're having lesson with me, by now you have learned:- Cadd9, D Major, E Major and G Major

Next, you'll add another open chord to your arsenal. A Major which will allow you to play more songs and add the chorus to one you've already been practicing!

That's right once you have this under your fingers you'll be playing the chorus to 'Sweet child o' mine' - enabling you to play pretty much the whole song!

A Major Triad: Fingering #1

(Most common A position)

A Major Triad: Fingering #2

(Great for changing to Amaj7)

A Major Triad: Fingering #3

(very common 'Barre')

Having fingering options for chords is a really valuable skill.

For example, you'll be able to choose the best option based upon where your fingers need to be for the next chord in the progression. Whats more as you improve as a player will devolp your voice leading skills.

I'll show you just how useful  this is when you when you learn chords for the "Sweet child o' mine" chorus later in this lesson along with the reasoning behind the choice of A major fingering used.
